The Persecution of Mildred Dunlap by Paulette Mahurin

My review: Quite a view of bigotry in the 1890's that has lessons for us today. My own viewpoint of "live and let live" wouldn't have been very well tolerated back then. If you were gay you had to keep it quiet and not let anyone know. It didn't matter if you were the most giving person in the world and Mildred happens to help out just about anyone in the town.

My Son would have been one of those persecuted back then as he has openly stated that he is bisexual. That's something that's his decision on how he wants to live and I still accept him and love him. I'll say that this book has got me thinking which some books really are meant to do. This review copy will continue to be treasured for a long time.

Description: A women's Brokeback Mountain. The year was filled with memorable historical events: the Dreyfus Affair divided France; Booker T. Washington gave his Atlanta address; the United States expanded the effects of the Monroe Doctrine in South America; and Oscar Wilde was tried and convicted for gross indecency under Britain's recently passed law that made sex between males a criminal offense. When news of Wilde's conviction went out over telegraphs worldwide, it threw a small Nevada town into chaos. This is the story of what happened when the lives of its citizens were impacted the Wilde news. It is a chronicle of hatred and prejudice with all its unintended and devastating consequences, and how love and friendship bring strength and healing.

Another story idea.

Don't what I'll do with it but this little thing just started coming to me. What a trip to experience it.

Richard awoke in the darkness, sat up in bed and looked around the room. An eerie glow began to coalesce into the middle of the room a few feet away. What at first was just a few wisps became a specter as they began to gather together to begin having some kind of a form. Still, though, quite shapeless in the darkness.

Watching what was happening in front of him he didn’t quite know what he should do. He was far too scared to try to touch it and also too scared to try to run away from the room. Frozen in place and unable to move, Richard sat there staring at the apparition. For some reason he was also unable to blink even, caught up in unspoken horror.

The Raven~New Release you should check out.

Book Synopsis: The Ravens attend Walt Whitman High School in Danville and they don’t like bullies. An eclectic and diverse group of “Goth” teenagers, the Ravens rid their school of bullies discreetly and secretively.

Greg Stringman is the leader of the group and is a vampire. So are Dillon and Angelica; Shaylin is a werewolf and Robert is a psychic medium.

The group blends in as well as they can and have been successful in keeping their talents hidden. But someone is on to them and threatens to expose them. But they don’t know who it is because all they receive are secret notes and texts.

Unlike any other case they’ve had, the Ravens have now become the bullied. How will they find out who threatens their group and more importantly, what will they do once they find out?

I was bullied as a kid. It was horrible and I still remember the feelings of isolation and humiliation I experienced from being tormented by other kids. I believe my self-esteem suffered because of it until my twenties when I was finally able to face scars and bruises I had acquired. I think then I learned how to heal myself but the memories are still painful. I still don't know if I've actually forgiven my tormentors, maybe I haven't come that far yet, even though that was almost a lifetime ago.

Bullying is real and the emotional scars it leaves are real also. The Ravens, of course, don't exist, but if they did, how great would that be?

I hope this very short story brings a smile and a bit of relief to those who are bullied. The story also shows that karma will always strike back at those who bully others.

I sincerely hope you enjoy the story and if you're inclined to leave me a short note or a review, please feel free to do so. ~ Liane Moonraven

Liane Moonraven was inspired by a college creative writing class, authors such as; Edgar Allan Poe, Brahm Stoker and Stephen King, the brilliant director, Alfred Hitchcock, and the great legends of King Arthur.

She loves weaving an historical story mixed with a bit of classic horror and steamy romance. Liane believes the combination makes for a deliciously different yet memorable tale.

Preferring not to restrict herself to any one particular genre, Liane combines historical romance, erotica, paranormal and horror and you shouldn't be surprised if she combines a bit of each into one story. She has also penned Young Adult fiction which focuses on the subject of bullying and she found comfort writing to a younger audience as well.

Liane Moonraven currently lives in a suburb of Washington, D.C.

Great review for Explorations

4*  A Diamond in the Rough June 25, 2012
By Lady Castus
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
There is always a diamond in the rough and that is the way with Explorations. I got swept away with the love and commitment the two characters have for each other. The story was sensitive, caring and emotional. Zake dotes on his wife and she does the same for him. Like most couples, they want to explore new things in their love life. They trust each other implicitly and embark on an Exploration that is extremely loving and romantic. I love how the author broke out each scene as it was enacted in a different part of the house. While it may be rough around the edges, I could easily look past that and see the beautiful love story beneath.

My review for Latitudes - A Story of Coming Home

I am reading a preview copy for this review.

This is a wonderfully engaging story that is well written and edited and has drawn me in. I'm having a difficult time putting it down. Following the lives of the children around the world is quite interesting with the way the author has presented their story.

I will note for anyone reading this the book is in paperback only.

Interesting review

Recently, I received a poor review from someone and it was interesting for me the points that they made. Becoming an author I expected some bad reviews, not everyone will like what I write. It's just a fact of life.

I looked up the reviewer profile and there was no information, none. So them making the statement "usually" doesn't hold a lot of water for me.

Another interesting point they made was my lifestyle is "seemed quite hypocritical for someone who is 'live and let live'". Guess they didn't realize that "to live and let live" means I don't care what you do as long as I don't have to join in with what they are doing.

As for the advice customers do ask me about the toys and how to use them. It's been happening for over two years now. According to this reviewers viewpoint I guess the person at the grocery store should have tried all of the food in the store.

The "shocking and hilarious" stories they are referring to? Whipping it out in public isn't shocking? What world are they possibly from that something like that isn't shocking? Of course, they refer to me as a reader.

The person that wrote the review has shown me how clueless they really are with both what and how they've written it. I'm having a really good laugh at the review they left.

Here is the review that I am referring to for Confessions Of A Porn Store Clerk

Disappointingly poor

June 20, 2012 By LM

Don't usually review, especially negatively, but would have to agree with an earlier reviewer.

This book is awfully written - at points almost incomprehensible. I also got the opinion that the writer is really closed minded about sex, doggedly pushing the fact that his lifestyle is straight and totally vanilla - it seemed quite hypocritical for someone who is 'live and let live'.

If someone is that closed minded to experimenting with anything sexually why should anyone take his advice?

What the reader believes are shocking and hilarious stories actually don't meet the hype and just support the fact of how little he really knows.

Disappointed.
